HOW-TO:
PROTECT YOUR GAY-TECH
LIFE!
It’s simple; living in an Arab world still isn’t much open-minded as the west side of the world. We’re still surrounded by closed-minded family and homophobic friends. We’re still living in a world were knowledge on such issues (homosexuality) isn’t available at hand to everybody. So the whole issue of coming out isn’t the same of being outted by accident or being forced by a certain situation, it’s just not the same. And since you’re not the next supermodel on a local magazine covers to get outted by the papers and tabloids! You don’t deal with life of fame, drama and scandals nor do you live the life of a gay boy in the world of Gossip Girl, NO! But you’re still involved with a much worse place, reality, where that life of yours you'd want to remain discreet! So My.Kali.mag dug deep, stepped into the mud to get you the best of how-to avoid such dirt. We looked for all the possible and made mistakes that could force your outing, and since we live in such a high-tech dig-using world, we focused on your gay-tech world of yours, where you think it's safe, but after you read this page it's much SAFER, so try following these tips to help you reduce the chances.
Make sure to delete your inbox messages and your sent out items too, constantly!
Why? Being gay is hard enough for us to hide, and you don't want to blow a cover in front of your snoopy brother or your suspicious mother, and whether you want it or not, you might just leave your cell phone for them to find by accident. So keep your inbox and your sent items clean, and never ever delay the deleting!
(Up) On Gossip Girl, Eric Van Der Woodsen (Connor Paolo) got outed by the evil bitch Gorgina, cause he wasn't cautious enough when he kissed his BF publicly on the school's corner. Here he is talking to his BF on the phone. (Right, Eric's BF with Jenny Humphrey) >>>
Have your mobile on vibrating, always no matter what!
Why? We hear a lot of those stories where you're in the shower, a message arrives to your mobile that you didn't hear, while your sister did, and next thing you know she's reading a flirty message from Rami! Or a call arrives while you're far away and your father picks it up answering (thinking he's doing you a favor) where you have your flamboyant, femme voiced friend answering "hey biatch, whatcha doing", and there where your father freaks out! So on vibrating deal?
Afraid not to hear it in the car? Well, easy trick, have it between your legs and up to your crotch area, that way if it vibrates you'll know, plus having s mini-pleasure sensation if you know what I mean
Protect your friends and camouflage the flamboyant ones by changing their names!
Why? Let's say your mom saw your super girly friend Yazan, and she told you not to see him nor call him ever again. So the right thing to do till you figure things out is to protect your friends, so change your friend's name (lets say Yazan for example, to Yara) this way it's so close to the name Yazan (so, basically the trick is to find the girl's name of your friend's boy name), and in the same time you're protecting your friend.
Change all your gay friends' names even if there is no problem, to protect them all the time, cause many people may try to steal numbers, for many reasons, and it maybe a person who wants revenge or just to hurt him, to call his family whether you like it or not since he did stole the num, cause all that could happen on a slip!
Never give out neither calling from your home or work place!
Why? Many accidents and back stabbing happen between enemies or so, and little you know! For example your friends with Nader, and Nader knows Adam, and Adam is one of Hala’s friends, and she’s your worst nightmare enemy ever, whether you’re aware of it or not, she could easily get your home or work’s number, and that could cause you a lot of trouble, whether you’ll get outted, black mailed or chased. The point is, never call anyone from your home or work, use your cell phone only, no matter what. No matter how much you trust your friends, even the bests, because this isn’t an issue of trust, this is an issue of protecting yourself and surviving with your gay life!
SMALL TIPS FOR BIGGER
PROTECTION
You're Yahoo!
Yahoo! Now gives a higher protection on your email. When you press the mail button on the home page, you'll find a link on the (Sign-In) box "Are you protected? Create your sign-in seal" click on it to fill up a form so you'll develop a higher protection on your email from any one to snoop around or hack!
You're Diaries (on PC, and this one also works for the regular old fashion paper one too)
When writing your dairy about something gay, you could transfer the words you feel afraid of being read by anyone but you, to a different kind of word, even if you read it years from now, you'll understand exactly what it was all about. Example: "Dear Dairy, today my best friend Amer knew I was a cookie…" cookie means >> gay
You're messenger/mail
Most of us leave there mail open for hours, or you put the "away" smiley face on your messenger while you go to the market, but now you need to think twice! Being cautious about your gay life is something you should work on and protecting on a continuous basis, and leaving such a mine-field like that could destroy you, it's the space where your gay friends and gay-related mails nest, and it's such a hazardous place for anyone to see but you, and you need to be careful about it. So ALWAYS SIGN OUT FROM YOUR E MAIL AND YOUR MESSENGER when you get up, even when you hit the bathroom.
You're Screen comment!
What's that all about?! A lot of people have family, friends, BFs' all in one messenger list, in fact, most! And we tend to forget about that, and that's when you go writing a comment like "missing the sale is hard, but what's harder is being gay!" and bam, there's where family or straight friends read it, next thing you know, it's the hottest gossip on campus, then you're OUT to everyone by accident! So no more such obvious comments unless you have your own gay messenger, other than that, try to camouflage it, or change any words that could reveal you're gay!
